Figueroa Mountain
Figueroa Mountain Road presents spectacular, airy views across the Santa Ynez Valley. It is a 42 miles loop starting at the town of Los Olivos, and returning to Highway 154 at Lake Cachuma as Happy Valley Road at Armour Ranch Road. The main road winds through Los Padres National Forest Service land, and is frequented by cyclists up for a challenging, but visually rewarding, ride. Visitors are surrounded by, sweeping grasslands, dense oak woodland, thick chaparral, and bubbling creeks. Deep in the steep chaparral hills of the area are trailheads into the San Rafael Wilderness Area for day use or backpacking, and car camping campgrounds for first come, first serve. This is an easy wilderness re-set, and a welcome getaway from the crowded coast.
